Thank You for Volunteering!
A year ago, St. Paul’s put into place a new policy regarding parent volunteers. The new policy required that each family volunteer 20 hours of service to St. Paul’s Lutheran School. This policy was not enacted because of a lack of volunteers; St. Paul’s has always been blessed with many parents volunteering significant amounts of time. The policy was put in place to emphasize the importance of parents being involved with their children and with their children’s school.
I was reminded of the importance of parents being involved with their children by a devotion that Miss Pribnow read at our daily staff devotion time. It was written by Max Lucado and it included this passage:
“Children spell love with four letters: T-I-M-E. Not just quality time, but hang time, downtime, anytime, all the time. Your children are not your hobby; they are your calling.”
My purpose in writing this is not just to emphasize how important your school volunteer time is to the school, and to your child, but to say thank you.
So many things around this school happen because you give the time to make them happen. Leading reading groups, coaching a basketball or volleyball team, planning and working at the Auction Party, helping with Pizza Fridays, driving on field trips, assisting in the computer lad, teaching Art Masters, serving on the PAL board and the Board of School Ministries, and helping with the Christmas Corner, are just a few of the vital contributions that you as parent volunteers make to your children’s’ school.
Thank you for your time, your energy, your love for your kids and your involvement with their education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
