7th Grade - May 16, 2008
By Kevin Marousek @ 6:40 PM :: 55 Views :: 7th Grade

There are 27 days left of the school year, subtract eight days for weekends, one holiday, one all-day picnic with the kindergarten class, one all-day beach trip with the whole school, and the last day of school, there are only 15 teaching/learning days left... not that anybody's counting (I’m certainly not).

There will be an open-note test on the first two acts of “Taming of the Shrew” on Monday. I’m hoping to move through at least two more acts in the coming week to maximize the amount of time students will have to write their final book report.

The May typing test will be this coming Friday. This one will be a single five minute test instead of two… typical of test standards administered for jobs in office environments. Further details to follow.

We have completed our “Art Masters” series. Hopefully, everyone can attend tonight’s (it is Friday afternoon as I type this) Celebration of the Arts at 6:30 p.m. and see the work created by the students.

Thanks to the folks at the Old Globe for allowing students to see a performance of “Beethoven, as I knew him.” Special thanks to actor Hershey Felder for offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how he transforms into the character. The collective behavior of our 6th and 7th grade classes was commendable, which is more than I can say for whichever school was seated behind us in the theater.

Lastly, if you are someone who works in the television industry (or if you know someone who is) either at one of the San Diego stations or up in Hollywood, I’m looking for subjects to interview for a personal project I’m working on this summer. Please e-mail me with any help you can provide.
