Dear Parents and Third Graders,
Thank you to Mrs. Salo for helping put up the last art projects today. I appreciate your time.
Celebration of the Arts is this evening at 6:30. It is the night for music and art. I look forward to your responses to the beautiful pieces of art work your children have created. I can tell you that replicating the style of an artist is difficult and the kids did a great job. There are many directions to follow and different skills we had to use. When they are matted and up on the walls somehow all the tribulations disappear and I am always awed by the projects. When the projects are completed I am more appreciative of the Art Masters program we have here at school. I am grateful to Mrs. Pappas for her enthusiasm and hard work making it possible. I am frustrated many times during the creative process, not being an artist myself , but I learn right along with the children about techniques we can use and skills we can apply to become better artists. The program promotes finished pieces that are amazing. I hope you treasure them and frame some of them.
I am trying to plan a parent party for all of you. The date I need to check on is Monday, June 9. I realize there are games and such on many days. However, that is the only evening right now that seems to work out. We will have refreshments in the classroom from about 5:30 until around 6:00, light sandwiches and such. Then, at around six, the kids will have some entertainment for you and some gifts to give to you. Please let me know how this date sounds for you. This is not a family affair, it is a time for you and your third grader. I am asking that siblings remain at home as your children will be doing some very special things for you on this evening. Please email if you can attend and how many parents can attend. Let me know if the time needs to be adjusted in some way. Thanks.
1. This week in your Friday folder you will receive the Native American project rubrics I used to grade your child's project. These grades include a grade for the diorama and the written report which are weighted as test grades for social studies. The third grade is an oral report grade used for an English grade. Great job!
2. Remember biography book reports and stretch faces are due on Friday, May 23.
3. Spelling Bonus Words
gestation incubation science ornamentation
4. Memory
Memory verses for May are in plan books if your child has completed April memory.
Yours in Christ,
