Greetings and salutations. The seventh grade is back from camp and back to work as we enter into the months that magically transform a seventh grader into an eighth grader… don’t be scared, we all went through it.
Here at St. Paul’s, the seventh grade has started to track the stock market, having been given $2,000 in “Schrute Bucks” to invest into companies they have researched this week. Throughout the month they will be tracking their buying and selling using Excel. Students have also been assembling photos from Catalina into PhotoStory presentations.
The biography book reports are going to be graded (hopefully) over the weekend. We’re going to round out the year by reading another Shakespearian play in class, so there’ll be one last book report for the students to write before the end of the year. A special essay contest is being held for the seventh grade class… the winning student receives paid tuition for his/her eighth grade year at St. Paul’s!
We’re doing a few art projects to prepare for the school’s annual celebration of the arts scheduled for the 16th of May. We also have another field trip scheduled to the Old Globe theater (or theatre if you absolutely must have the Old English spelling… or is it Olde English?), so if you are available to drive and would like to see a play, look for the permission slips in this week’s Friday folder.
We’re roughly halfway through the trimester, so I encourage you to check out Gradelink to track the progress of your son/daughter. Post-camp, the middle school teachers are doing our collective best to catch up with entering in grades… please be patient with us.
