Mrs. Cook - 1st Grade

First Grade News 5/16/08

On Thurs., we took one last trip to the library this school year.  Thank you, Mrs. Conde-Nau and Mr. Coughlin, for volunteering to drive and helping us while we were there.   Each first grader checked out three books.  When they've read through them, you can return the books to the library branch most convenient for you OR send them back to school, and I'll return them for you.  Be sure the books they checked out on our last visit have been returned as the due date is in just a few days.  It's so much fun to see the first graders getting excited about their favorite authors or even a series they're enjoying.  I'll be sending home information soon about summer reading programs that will be offered through our San Diego Public Libraries.

Tonight will be a night to remember as your children get up on that stage and sing praises at the Celebration of the Arts Festival. There are even a few first graders who will be performing piano solos!  They need to be dressed in chapel uniforms and in the kindergarten classroom by 6:00  (not earlier).  Please be sure they've had dinner before they arrive.  As you go in to get a good seat, be sure to look at the magnificent art on the walls (marked by grade level).  These pieces are the products of our Art Masters program, sponsored by PAL.

I will be out on Monday as my boys and I send my husband off on deployment aboard the USS Reagan.  Mrs. Carter will sub for me.

Enjoy your weekend!  There's sunshine in the forecast!
