PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

St. Paul’s Lutheran School, in partnership with the church and home, provides students with a foundation of faith for lifelong discipleship. Our philosophy is based upon these directives from Scripture:

Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not leave it. Proverbs 22:6
Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.   Matthew 28:20
I ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, to give you His Spirit to make you wise and reveal the truth to you as you learn to know Him better.  Ephesians 1:17

In our response to God’s Word, His love, and through an integrated curriculum, students develop spiritually, intellectually, aesthetically, emotionally, physically, and socially.

At the heart of our commitment is the belief that every child is a gift from God - each unique, wonderful, and limitless in the capacities to grow, learn and love. We believe that all people, child and adult, fall short of perfection due to our sinful condition.  But God has initiated a plan to redeem the human race. This plan is realized in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in His birth, life, death and resurrection. We believe that the Holy Spirit of God works faith in and knowledge of this divine plan in the hearts of His children. This divine plan frees us to teach and explore the truths and wonders of all God’s creation.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School is an educational ministry of St. Paul’s Lutheran congregation established to carry out this teaching portion of God’s command. We believe, teach and confess that the Bible is the Holy, inspired, inerrant Word of God, and the only source and norm for Christian faith and life. We respond to the directives in God’s Word as found in Deuteronomy 11:22, Psalm 119:105, Matthew 28:1-20, and Proverbs 11:6.

Jesus Christ permeates every aspect of the school’s instruction and work. We, of the Lutheran Church, believe and teach that man is justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that Jesus Christ can be known only through the Bible. We have an obligation and privilege of presenting to each child the truths of God’s Word.

We believe that a Christian school can be more successful in leading children to a vital Christian life than any agency except the Christian home. We recognize the home holds the key to a successful program of Christian Education. Without consistent Christian values taught in the home and school a conflict could grow within a child. We believe parents are primarily responsible for the training of their children in Christian ideals and principles. Parents, teachers, and church work together for the Spiritual, intellectual, and social development of the whole child to equip them for their role as adults in service to their Lord, the church and society.
